The Weekly Swatch: Lace Diamond Knit Stitch Pattern

Lace Diamond knitting pattern stitch pattern knit

In this swatch, I have prepared a sample of the Lace Diamond Knit Stitch.

Diamond motifs are ever popular and this is a simple lace version. The stitch utilises the most common in- and decreases, requires a multiple of 10 plus 2 stitches and is knitted over 16 rows.

All of the wrong side rows are purled. If a double yarn over (yo) is worked on the preceding right side row, the second yarn over is purled through the back loop (ptbl) on the following wrong side row.

The Weekly Swatch: Garter Lace Diamonds

Garter Lace Diamond Knit Stitch Pattern

Sticking to the diamond motif from last week's swatch, for this week I have prepared another knit stitch featuring diamonds, the Garter Lace Diamond Knit Stitch, a lace knit stitch which requires absolutely no purling. :-)

The Weekly Swatch: Irish Moss Diamond Knit Stitch

Irish Moss Diamond Knit Stitch

For today's weekly swatch, I have prepared a simple textured knit stitch, which just requires knit and purl stitches.

The stitch incorporates Irish Moss stitch diamonds, which are framed by a background of stocking stitch. The stitch motif is knitted over 16 rows on a multiple of 14 plus 8 stitches.

The Weekly Swatch: Ratchet Eyelet Knit Stitch

Cogwheel Eyelet Lace Knit Stitch

Catching up with the weekly swatch posts today, next up is the Ratchet Eyelet knit stitch.

This stitch motif is knitted over 28 rows, making this a more elaborate stitch. When complete, the stitch results in what looks like garter stitch medallions, which are framed in a circle of eyelets, resembling ratchets. All the wrong side rows are purled throughout, allowing you to take a break from all the in- and decreasing on the right side rows.

The Weekly Swatch: Diamond Rib Knit Stitch

Diamond Rib Knit Stitch Pattern Tutorial

Against a background of reverse stockinette stitch, the Diamond Rib stitch creates vertical columns featuring framed, diamond-shaped motifs. The stitch requires multiples of nine plus two stitches and is worked over eight rows. Due to the intricate details of the stitch motif, it's probably best suited to lace-weight and sock yarns.

The Weekly Swatch: Diamond Trellis and Garter Triangle Stitch

The Diamond Trellis and Garter Triangle Stitch

For this week's stitch, I have been knitting up two swatches, one for the Diamond Trellis stitch and for one of its (many!) variations, featuring a garter stitch effect in the upper part of the diamond motif.

Both require a multiple of ten plus three stitches and repeats are worked over sixteen rows.

As can be seen from the images below, this lace stitch is best suited to yarns with a good stitch definition. For my samples I have chosen Rowan Bamboo Soft and Stylecraft Kon-Tiki, both on 4mm needles.
